{"id":132,"date":"2017-01-17T00:44:20","date_gmt":"2017-01-17T00:44:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.willrmiller.com\/?page_id=132"},"modified":"2023-03-19T14:22:53","modified_gmt":"2023-03-19T14:22:53","slug":"games","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.willrmiller.com\/?page_id=132","title":{"rendered":"Games"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Marvel&#8217;s Midnight Suns<\/h1>\n<h5>Lead Engineer, Lead Abbey Designer<\/h5>\n<p>Action-packed combat, deep storytelling and an ensemble cast make Marvel&#8217;s Midnight Suns the benchmark for tactical RPGs. \u00a0With over 60 hours of gameplay, MMS is a fantastic experience for Marvel fans and turn-based tactics enjoyers.<\/p>\n<h1>Beyond Earth: Rising Tide<\/h1>\n<h5>lead designer, PC, 2015<\/h5>\n<p>The expansion to <em>Sid Meier&#8217;s Civilization: Beyond Earth<\/em>, <em>Rising Tide<\/em> (affectionately abbreviated <em>BERT<\/em>) built on the core gameplay of the base game, adding a brand new diplomacy system, oceanic city building, hybrid affinities, artifacts, new quests, and a slew of new units.<\/p>\n<h1>Sid Meier&#8217;s Civilization: Beyond Earth<\/h1>\n<h5>lead designer, PC, 2014<\/h5>\n<p><em>Beyond Earth<\/em> picks up where <em>Civilization V<\/em> left off, and tells the story of humanity&#8217;s future beyond our world. \u00a0Built on the <em>Civ V<\/em> engine, <em>Beyond Earth<\/em> introduced several new concepts to the <em>Civ<\/em> formula, most notably the non-linear Tech Web, the Affinities system, and rpg-like quests.<\/p>\n<h1>Haunted Hollow<\/h1>\n<h5>lead designer, Ios, 2013<\/h5>\n<p>Firaxis&#8217;s first foray into mobile gaming, <em>Haunted Hollow<\/em> was a spooky multiplayer strategy game where players vied for control of a sleepy New England hamlet by constructing giant haunted houses and scaring the populace with monsters.<\/p>\n<h1>Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning<\/h1>\n<h5>Systems designer, pc, console, 2012<\/h5>\n<p>Critically acclaimed but much maligned, <em>Reckoning<\/em> was a cutting-edge action RPG set in the land of Amalur, created by Ken Rolston, Todd McFarlane and R.A. Salvatore. \u00a0The game featured a massive open world and a killer combat system.<\/p>\n<h1>XCOM: Enemy Unknown<\/h1>\n<h5>gameplay programmer, pc, CONSOLE, 2012<\/h5>\n<p><em>XCOM: EU<\/em> was perhaps the most ambitious project Firaxis ever took on, and breathed fresh life into a classic turn-based strategy game. \u00a0This game proved that turn-based strategy didn&#8217;t have to be quiet and contemplative &#8211; it could feel like an action movie.<\/p>\n<h1>Civilization IV: Beyond the Sword<\/h1>\n<h5>intern, pc, 2017<\/h5>\n<p><em>BTS<\/em> was the final expansion to <em>Civilization IV<\/em>, and capped off what many consider to be the best game in the series.<\/p>\n<h1>Guitar Hero II<\/h1>\n<h5>intern, console, 2016<\/h5>\n<p>This game perfected the plastic-instrument-in-living-room experience, and made you truly feel like a rock star. \u00a0 I sat in the hottest room in Boston for a summer learning form some of the smartest people I&#8217;ve ever met.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Marvel&#8217;s Midnight Suns Lead Engineer, Lead Abbey Designer Action-packed combat, deep storytelling and an ensemble cast make Marvel&#8217;s Midnight Suns the benchmark for tactical RPGs. \u00a0With over 60 hours of gameplay, MMS is a fantastic experience for Marvel fans and turn-based tactics enjoyers.
